Case Study - Learning Management System

Global Bank’s Core Banking System Modernization with CGS Technologies Associates Inc

Business Need

East Coast Based Government Administrative Agency seeking a System Integration (SI) Vendor to implement the Learning Management System that would:

  • Replace the current end-of-life web-based ILT administration system, PathLore, with 10 functional sub-modules with a scalable and secure application to serve more than 400,000 employees/consultants/interns, with concurrent users of approximately 25,000 for the eLearning platform.
  • Provide the ability to create, host and deploy eLearning courses in a variety of formats including native Open EdX and SCORM-compliant course packages with mobile device compatibility.
  • Provide a robust reporting and analysis tool on training statistics and audit tracking for agency’s internal and external oversight approvers.

Allow the creation of micro eLearning sites/portals for each individual agencies to host and manage their own eLearning courses.

CGS Role

Team CGS, a collaboration between CGS Technology Associates Inc. and an SI partner, led by CGS, proposed a Learning Management System (LMS) built on Microsoft .Net technologies with Dynamics 365 platform and Open edX tool. CGS spearheaded significant process reengineering, data migration, integration and business readiness and training activities that include engaging external city agencies for design and training of new system to ensure successful user adoption.

Team CGS dutifully carried out the following tasks in an on time and within budget manner:  

  • Configure and deploy all portals for this project.
  • Lead the development of .NET/Dynamics 365 applications and Open EdX platform with a phased deployment approach.
  • Perform project management, change control, and change management support activities (issue resolution, system change tracking, and communication).
  • Perform requirements validation and identification of new or enhanced requirements.
  • Configure and deploy reports (in Power BI) and performance metrics for associated modules or applications.
  • Integrate external data sources supported by the Government agency.
  • Lead data analysis, mapping, and migration into new systems.
  • Conduct system development, integration, and data migration.
  • Lead change management initiatives to design and deploy applications to all users.
  • Knowledge transfer to agency team.
